The Waterloo’s cultural center
Serving culture for everyone and by everyone
-
Created in 1977, the Waterloo Cultural Centre has been recognised by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation since 1992. Every year, it offers accessible, diverse and high-quality cultural activities.
Located within the Espace Bernier, in the heart of Waterloo, it owes its name to the Waterloo poet, chronicler and essayist Armand Bernier.
As a venue for cultural events, it uses the Espace Bernier for the visual arts and the Jules Bastin Hall for the performing arts, with an original and eclectic professional programme for the general public and schools.
As a space for meeting, entertainment, reflection, creativity and hosting local events, it helps to cement communities and associations and to enrich local and cultural life throughout the seasons.
Like the bird that makes the tree on which it perches tremble, the cultural center increasingly anchors itself in its territory, nourishing it by putting citizens in motion around shared projects. A bird was softly singing on the low branch of a pine, and passersby thought it was a small thing, this singing bird. But I saw the tree tremble. (…)
