The Saint-François of Assisi’s Church

  • Founded on the initiative of Cardinal Mercier, the parish of Saint-François d’Assise in Le Chenois is characterized by its Gothic-inspired church, begun in 1913 and enlarged in 1938.

Built on a promontory of white Plancenoit stone by workers from Le Chenois, it boasts beautiful modern stained glass windows by the Antwerp workshops of Mr Joors.

In 1987, the parish’s main concern was children’s education, provided since 1919 by the Annonciade Sisters, who have left Le Chenois with many memories and tangible evidence of their presence.
