Opposite the Gordon Monument, this memorial commemorates the approximately 4,000 soldiers from Hanover who fought with the British army at the Battle of Waterloo. These troops played a key role in the coalition that defeated Napoleon in June 1815.
The monument honours their sacrifice and their contribution to European history, illustrating the participation of foreign forces in this pivotal battle that marked the end of the Napoleonic era.
