Chemin du Goumont 1, 1420 Braine-l’Alleud (In the Hougoumont Farm)

Located not far from Hougoumont Chapel, this monument honours the French troops who lost their lives attacking Hougoumont: a fierce episode of the battle. It recalls the heavy losses suffered by Napoleon’s troops in their assault on this strategic position, strongly defended by the Allies.
Erected in 1912 by the Association of Friends of Napoleon, this stone monument stands as a sober tribute to those who fought with courage under dire circumstances, regardless of nationality.
