Church of Plancenoit

  • Nestled in the village of Plancenoit,, this church was one of the strategic points during the Battle of Waterloo.

On the afternoon of 18 June 1815, street fighting was fierce as General von Bülow’s Prussian troops fought their way into the cemetery adjacent to the church, causing heavy losses on both sides.

Severely damaged, the building was rebuilt in the 19th century, but remains associated with this decisive episode that contributed to the collapse of the French lines.
Today, it stands as a symbol of resistance and remembrance for the village.
