Écuries exhibition – Thérèse Coustry
-
Since 1973, Thérèse Coustry has exhibited her work across Europe, as well as in Turkey, Japan, and New York. Her artistic world, expressed in a naïve style, celebrates the charm of days gone by: village life, peaceful landscapes, daily moments, and animal scenes. Bathed in light, her paintings overflow with joy and poetry. Without seeking to impress, her goal is above all to move the viewer.
The artist draws her inspiration from a rich variety of scenes: farmhouses alive with busy farmers, children at play, laundry fluttering in the breeze, country paths inviting mischief, and old-fashioned shops. Among these recurring motifs, one stands out: the cat. This silent ruler often appears perched on a windowsill, nestled in a tree, or curled up on a piano… Sometimes, it even takes centre stage.
With precise technique and boundless imagination, Thérèse Coustry creates works imbued with serenity. Touching, sometimes nostalgic, always optimistic, her art invites us into a world where one would gladly linger.
