Waterloo Cultural Center

Culture by everyone, for everyone

  • Founded in 1977 and officially recognised by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in 1992, the Waterloo Cultural Centre offers an accessible, diverse, and high-quality program every year.

Situated in Espace Bernier in the heart of Waterloo, it is named for the poet, chronicler, and essayist Armand Bernier.

For visual arts, it uses the exhibition spaces at Espace Bernier; for performing arts, the Jules Bastin Hall. Its professional and eclectic programme caters to both the general public and schools.

More than just a venue, it is a place for gathering, entertainment, reflection, creativity, and local initiatives : strengthening community ties and enriching life in Waterloo all year round.

Like the bird that makes the tree on which it perches tremble, the cultural center increasingly anchors itself in its territory, nourishing it by putting citizens in motion around shared projects A bird was softly singing on the low branch of a pine, and passersby thought it was a small thing, this singing bird. But I saw the tree tremble. (…)
