Erected in 1819, the Monument to the Prussians is surmounted by the « Iron Cross », a powerful symbol of Prussian military bravery. Designed by the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, this monument commemorates the Prussian soldiers who fell at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815.
It celebrates the decisive role played by the Prussian army in defeating Napoleon, particularly under the command of Marshal Blücher.
