Built in 1914, this monument is one of the last memorials to be erected on the Waterloo battlefield. It honours the roughly 4,200 Belgian soldiers who fought on 18 June 1815, approximately 1,200 of whom died.
This Memorial reminds us of a lesser-known complexity: Belgians fought on both sides, some with Napoleon, others with the Allied forces led by Wellington.
This site is essential for remembering their courage and the multifaceted nature of the conflict.
